Australian Shepherds

***We are retiring and have young adults and older puppies available now.***

****Important announcement:
So I cannot tell y'all how many times I have typed this post up and deleted it. I was going to do a live video but I couldn't pull myself together long enough to hit the video button and knew that would be pointless because I would ugly cry in front of all of y'all. So everyone will just have to read this very long post. It is with much prayer (and lots of tears) that my husband and I have decided it is time for me to, "hang up my hat" (those of you who are cowboys or cowgirls may get that phrase) ❤️. We have not come to this conclusion easily and it has been an extremely emotional week for me! As many of you know, last Friday, I injured my back while out at the barn and was transported by ambulance to the emergency room. Some of you may not know that I was born with a bone disease and physical limitations aren't something new to me. I have a complete hip replacement, a cage, rods and screws in my back due to a major back surgery that took place 20 years ago. My back has always been the thorn in my flesh! Unfortunately, I am no longer able to ignore the fact that my body is failing me and THAS must come to an end. I suppose all good things must come to an end, and this is no exception. Over the past 10 years, we have met some amazing families and our puppies have changed many lives. I wish I had the time to tell you all some of the stories of people who have told me how much these dogs mean to them and how they have gotten them through cancer, miscarriages, loss of a loved one, the courage and strength they needed after a divorce, the list goes on and on! Maybe y'all could send our P.O. box some letters with testimonies of this if you want to. That would be a huge blessing to me to read and help me through this (and would be something tangible that I could cherish and put in my big red book ❤️❤️❤️)! Just saying. ❤️😩😩😩 You see, for me, it was more than just playing with some puppies. It was a dream come true for me. As a 6-year-old little girl, I was put into leg traction for a year, leg braces for another 2 years, and then had to learn to re-walk on crutches for another 6 months to a year. I say all that not to gain sympathy, but to just say my life has not always been easy, physically speaking, but I cherish those times because they made me who I am today. I am a very headstrong person and pretty independent (because for so many years I was completely dependent on someone else to take care of me). When I was a little girl I asked my daddy for farm and because we lived in the neighborhood, he could not give me that and told me that if I wanted a farm I would have to marry someone who had one one day. I did that! 😁❤️ He is the greatest blessing in my life and my children too! When I told him I wanted to quit my dental job and run Tennessee Hills Australian Shepherds full time, I know he probably thought I was crazy! I am a very spontaneous kind of person and it doesn't even have to make sense on paper, or any other way for that matter, for me to "take the bull by the horns" and roll with it. Lol. It has been a roller coaster of a ride, with ups and downs, but 10 years later, I can say, without hesitation, I have absolutely no regrets! It has been such a blessing and has brought so much joy to me to have the privilege to own my own business, feel the love of some amazing people (and dogs and puppies), and for that I am truly grateful!!! Being a dog breeder is not always looked upon in a positive light. There are a lot of trollers on Facebook by the way!!! It is more than just putting two dogs together and getting puppies to play with all of the time! It is a lot of hard work! There are times of sleeping propped up in the whelping box waiting on a female to welp her puppies, times of great sadness because you have fought so hard to try to keep a puppy alive to no avail, tears because you got too attached and didn't want to see one go. There have, literally, been blood (you would be surprised how many times that kennel door swings shut when you are cleaning out shavings and it's not a soft blow to the head🤦‍♀️), sweat (lots of that) and tears (and even more of those) poured into our breeding program. There are many hours spent marketing, making phone calls, entering information into databases, working on websites, taking updated puppy pictures, vet appointments, making up puppy packs, washing puppies, cleaning kennels, making more phone calls so that you can make sure you remind folks about puppy pickup day, feeding time. All of these things take time, and a good back, to do. If you own a farm or run your own business, or both, you know that there is little, to no, time for vacations and your family either helps you in the chores (which my family did when they were able btw) , or that's time away from them. Because we just welcomed our new grandson this week and have a 2-year-old granddaughter, family time is top priority. Our kids are pretty much all grown now and they are starting their families and we want to be there to make memories with them all! I have got to remember that my health is important or I'm not going to be able to do that. So with all of this being said, we are going to be discounting our black tricolor puppies, who are 17 weeks on Monday, and selling those, as well as most of our adult dogs. I will be keeping my girl Oakley (she is my service dog), our first boy ever born at THAS, who we kept, Roscoe, and our very own girl, Cricket. If you are interested in any of these younger pups or our adults, we asked that you please fill out an application on our website. They are not free, as we have a lot of money invested into these dogs, but they are reasonably priced and finding forever homes for these dogs are our top priority! We will take this very seriously and do an in-depth interview with you. So if I ask a lot of questions in addition to the application, just know that that's me and I'm going to make certain these dogs are placed in the right home for you and for them. Again, thank you to ALL of our THAS families and followers for the years of your friendship and encouragement to me. Y'all are the BEST (and why we were ever able to do what we did in the first place) and I pray you will PLEASE keep in touch. I have thought about the changes that are happening in my life right now and thought about the "seasons" of life. Like the actual seasons (weather), they are purposeful and needful. Do I enjoy all of them? No! I melt in the summer heat! However, I sure do enjoy fall (my favorite). We're not always going to "enjoy" every "season", but there's purpose in each one❤️. I am choosing to trust God for this new season of my life. Thank you for reading this very long post. ❤️
We have bred Oakley to Goose and this will be our last litter born here at THAS 😭. Estimated due date is 08/12/25. Puppies will be 8 weeks and ready for homes the week of 10/09/25-10/12/25. We have a few on this wait list right now and will be taking a few more applications (especially for tri colors).

Updated on 6/17/25
We have 7 puppies left! They are all black tries (male and female). Don't miss out on these sweet pups. They all have already had their first three sets of vaccinations and are microchipped.

Dedicated to raising quality Australian Shepherds to be your family's next loyal companion.

About Us...

Hello! We are Tennessee Hills Australian Shepherds. We began our breeding program in 2015, stepping out by faith, with our first breeding pair of Aussies named Judah and Mia. Our purpose here at THAS is to breed quality Australian Shepherds, who produce puppies that are a true representation of the breed. Our focus has always been on temperaments that suit the needs of families and individuals alike. In 2016, we bought a small hobby farm, tucked away in the hills of Georgetown, TN (near Chattanooga, TN) to continue to grow our program. However, though somewhat smaller in size compared to some, we feel that quality is much more important than quantity. Many hours have been spent diligently researching Aussies, talking to other breeders, reading all that we can about the breed, taking some online courses with AKC, and of course, living with them and studying their behavior. They are not just our pets, they are our family! We love what we do and devote much of our time and energy into producing quality companions, which are healthy, have excellent temperaments, champion bloodlines, and bred to AKC standards. Our dogs are AKC registered and have regular health checks, as well as genetic testing with Pawprint Genetics and Vemodia. Our desire is that we place forever companions, who make a difference in the lives of many, in homes of those who will love them their entire lives.
